2023 TRIPO Heads Meeting will be held in Busan

KIPO (Director LEE Insil) announced on the 9th that the 23rd China Japan South Korean Patent Office Directors' Meeting will be held in Busan after a 4-year period from 11.30 to 12.1.

The Conference aims to exchange and utilize patent examination information, coordinate the patent system, and establish international norms in the field of intellectual property. It has been held continuously since 2001, and has contributed to the balanced development of the intellectual property systems of the three countries through cooperation in multiple fields such as trademarks, design, trials, and education.

 

The meeting (11.30) will re-confirm the results of the cooperation among the three patent offices conducted online during the epidemic, and conduct in-depth discussions on the recently highly concerned inventorship of artificial intelligence (whether to recognize artificial intelligence as an inventor) and patent examination standards related to artificial intelligence.

 

[China, Japan, and South Korea User Academic Seminar (Seminar): Introduction to Intellectual Property Policies for Promoting Innovation in Small and Medium Enterprises, etc.]

 

The next day (12.1), there will also be a "China, Japan, and South Korea User Academic Seminar" with the theme of "The role of Intellectual Property for Innovative SMEs".

 

At the academic seminar, various intellectual property policies of the three patent offices to promote innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises will be introduced, and relevant personnel from the three countries'  financial institutions engaged in intellectual property finance business on site will explain the financing plan for small and medium-sized innovative enterprises utilizing intellectual property. It is expected that the three countries will share the main policies aimed at effectively supporting the business activities of small and medium-sized enterprises with potential technology.

 

Director of KIPO, stated that "The proportion of patents applied for worldwide by China, South Korea, and Japan has increased from 42% in 2001 to 62% in 2021, indicating an increase in the proportion of patents in the field of intellectual property, After four years of the epidemic, we will hold a face-to-face meeting in South Korea again. We will do our best to create opportunities for cooperation in the field of intellectual property between the three countries, not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of quality."
